I love me some skincare, whatever the season! I discovered Typology’s natural and affordable line of sustainable skincare this Summer, and I haven’t looked back! It’s such a great range of targeted skincare and I’ll be ordering it forevermore. I’m a BIG fan.

I start my morning routine by cleansing my face with the hydrating facial soap, then I go in with the Orange Blossom Hydrolate to brighten and regenerate the skin – it’s so refreshing. I then press a couple of drops of the Vitamin C Radiance Serum into my skin to get it looking glowy, followed by a few drops of the Hyaluronic Acid Serum to lock in moisture. Finally, I pop a bit of the Caudalie Vinoperfect Moisturiser on, it’s enriched with hyaluronic acid and olive squalene and it’s cruelty-free so it’s another product that’s cemented itself as part of my Summer skincare routine. My final step is, of course, slapping on the all-important SPF (always 50), I’ve just run out but my favourite product is the Caudalie Anti-Wrinkle Face SPF 50. It’s creamy, non-sticky and doesn’t leave that white cast on the skin. In the evening, I usually remove my makeup with the iconic Garnier Micellar Water then cleanse with the facial soap again. Instead of the Vitamin C Serum, I use 0.3% Retinol Serum instead and tap the Espa Optimal Skin Pro-Moisturiser onto my face and neck.

No matter the time of year, I love a full coverage base, meaning my skincare routine needs to be thorough and effective no matter the month! I use a lighter cleanser in the morning like the Botanics Softening Cleanser or the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser which are both super gentle and prep my face well for the rest of the day. During the warm3

Once my skin is feeling cleansed and clean, I pop on my SPF for the day! I’m pretty vigilant when it comes to applying SPF, especially during the warmer months and have tried a fair few to find a favourite. I’m currently using The Body Shop Skin Defence Lotion which is SPF50+ and it makes a really good base under makeup or alone.

Other stand out products I’ve been loving in the warmer months include The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution, Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser and the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream which is great all year round.

When it comes to my summer skincare routine I like to try and keep it as simple as I can. I am prone to heat rash on my face in warm weather, so I try not to use anything that could irritate my skin further. At the moment I am cleansing in the morning with The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser (my holy grail) and in the evening double cleansing using The Ordinary and the Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm. I like these cleansers because they have no fragrance which can be really irritating on the skin. I recently got a Foreo too and I love it, It makes your skin feel so fresh and clean! I double cleanse especially in summer due to using more SPF which is the WORST for clogging pores, worse than makeup!

In the morning I’ll then always apply my vitamin C serum from The Ordinary called Ascorbyl Glucoside. I also use a Caffeine Solution with EGCG from The Ordinary which is amazing for getting rid of dark circles and puffiness. I use this morning and evening then use the small part of my jade roller to massage it gently into the skin. In the evenings I will apply The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, which is great for controlling breakouts and reducing redness. I’ve now dropped using Glycolic Acid down to once a week as it’s quite harsh and especially in summer you have to be really careful with the acids you use on your skin as it makes you more susceptible to UV damage.

I moisturise in the morning with Clinique Moisture Surge which is really nice and lightweight, oil-free too which is good for me who has super oily skin! In the evenings I use The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors + HA, this is quite a thick moisturising cream so I wouldn’t use it in the morning as it is too heavy for me daytime. After moisturising AM and PM I then jade roll my whole face and neck for about 2 minutes, it really reduces puffiness and helps shift any build-up under the skin. Then for my SPF I am still sticking with the Clinique City Block in SPF 40, an all-time fave!

I am LOVING my skincare regime at the moment, sometimes you just go through phases of feeling like nothing’s working as it should and your skin is just not having it but my current combo is definitely kicking all my boxes right now and I find myself really looking forward to doing my routine every day.

My current cleanser is the Body Shop Camomile sumptuous cleansing butter, it removes everything and is really soft and gentle, perfect for my sensitive skin. If I’m not wearing SPF or Makeup (ie spent all day indoors) then I’ll just do one cleanse followed by a spritz of hydration spray, I’m currently loving the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra 8 Daily Soothing Moisturizing Concentrate. After I’ll immediately apply my eye cream. I’ve gone through so many tubs of Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème even though I use the tiniest amount of as it’s incredibly rich, I also use it around my lips if they need it. Next is my serums, in the day I’ll use a vitamin C, currently I’m using Ole Henriksen Truth Serum but I also love the one by Lumene. This really brightens the skin and leaves you really glowy. At night I go for the BareMinerals Skin Longevity Vital Power Serum, the Niacinamide really helps to even my skin tone and reduce fine lines. Finally, for moisturiser I’m using IT Cosmetics Confidence in a cream, it’s got the nicest texture and is super hydrating which is perfect for the summer. Finally, I always finish with an SPF, my current go-to is the La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra Light Invisible Tinted Fluid SPF 50. I’ve got very pale, freckly skin so I am religious when it comes to protecting my face.

Zoe

A lot of my skincare hasn’t changed for Summer, I’ve been sticking with my trusty Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish for my cleanser, my Dr Roebucks Lifesaver Skin Brightening Toner, and the Lumene Nordic C Glow Boost Essence & Allies of Skin Mandelic Pigmentation Corrector for my serums.

For my eye cream, I’ve been using the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright, I heard great things about it, purchased it and love it, my makeup goes on top really nicely, my eyes feel much more illuminated but I’m not gonna lie it’s definitely the one skincare product I forget the most and I think when I’m 70 I’ll really regret that!

My Moisturiser is the Embriolisse Creme Concentrate, I have combination skin and find this product the perfect balance between moisturising without being too oily, I love how my makeup sits on top of it and my skin loves it. I’ve been through bottles of it, it’s my go-to recommendation for anyone looking for a moisturiser.

I have been loving using a mist! In particular, on warmer days, this Herbivore coconut water is super hydrating but also really lovely and refreshing. For SPF I’m using my La Roche Posay 50+ as we’re having a particularly hot week and it’s super important to have SPF on underneath your makeup or if you’re having a no-makeup day in order to protect your face. I like this one as I have quite sensitive eyes and usually, SPFs can leave me a little bit watery which ruins my makeup but this one I find is great for sensitive eyes and I don’t have any trouble with it, my makeup stays all day, and it doesn’t feel too heavy.

For my current favourite mask, I’d have to go with the 111 Skin Bio Cellulose treatment, it’s a little bit more on the pricey side and indulgent but a real treat for your face and I feel like summertime is the time where you should add more moisture into your skin. It’s also a time where you need to protect your skin after being outside in the sun a lot more, so definitely the time to treat yourself and pamper with an indulgent 111 Skin mask.

I feel like my skincare routine has really been stepped up a notch this year and I’ve really enjoyed learning about what step gives what results, why it needs to be in a certain order and what ingredients work best for me and my skin goals (lol).

I’d say a few of my purchases were definitely influenced by Jamie Genevieve as her skin is INCREDIBLE, and my need for being dewy all day erryday is inspired by the one and only Katie Jane Hughes. I start off in the morning with my HG cleanser Milky Jelly from Glossier then use The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc serum (to reduce redness) and one of my vitamin C serums (for brightness).

I then use the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream and finish with The Glow Recipe Banana Souffle Moisturiser. Then in the evenings, my routine is pretty similar except I’ll tackle my makeup with the Super Facialist cleansing oil first. Then I switch up my serums to include Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol. I’ve become obsessed with Ole Henriksen PHAT Glow Facial mask and do this once a week!
