Book Club: The Nightshift Before Christmas

Our latest Zoella Book Club read comes from the author of the record-breaking bestseller This Is Going To Hurt.

Yep Adam Kay, the wittiest medic around, is back with more gallows humour and hilarious anecdotes about life on the hospital ward. Will it live up to the hilarity of his first medical memoir? Scroll through the gallery below to find out what we thought!

Next up we’re reading crime meets slasher novel: My Sister, The Serial Killer. The first novel by Oyinkan Braithwaite tells the story of a Nigerian woman whose lethal younger sibling has an inconvenient habit of killing all the boyfriends she’s ever had.

When Korede’s dinner is interrupted one night by a distress call from her sister, Ayoola, she knows what’s expected of her: bleach, rubber gloves, nerves of steel and a strong stomach. This will be the third boyfriend Ayoola’s dispatched in, quote, self-defence and the third mess that her lethal little sibling has left Korede to clear away. She should probably go to the police for the good of the menfolk of Nigeria, but she loves her sister and, as they say, family always comes first. Until that is, Ayoola starts dating the doctor where Korede works as a nurse. Korede’s long been in love with him, and isn’t prepared to see him wind up with a knife in his back: but to save one would mean sacrificing the other…

We’re predicting a dark, funny and addictive page-turner we won’t be able to put down!

Thank you so much for introducing me to this book. I thought this book had the perfect balance of both hilarious and touching.

I bought my mum this book for Christmas after seeing it on Zoe’s vlogmas. She’s a nurse and she worked the nightshift on Christmas day, so it was very fitting. She loves it, and I can’t wait to read it after her!

Get it while it's hot!
