This is the ideal book for inhaling in one sitting or dipping in and out of whenever you need a five minute break from your own life to laugh at someone else’s reality. Full of laugh out loud anecdotes from a junior doctor, Adam Kay handles humour and heartache with equal flair. My only criticism would be that I needed more! More diary entries, more patients looking like they’ve just given a porcupine a hand job. More questionable tales of humans and what they like to do with chocolate wrappers. If you’re after a witty read that’s easy to shift, you’ll love it! S/o to all those working in the public services and got stuck with the Christmas Day rota this year, you are golden souls!

It’s 142 pages of a brilliantly crafted string of sexual innuendos, ludicrous circumstances and awkward as hell situations strung together to make a joyful, side splitting, totally tragic and at times heartbreaking read. My only qualm is the length of it, this feels like a massive Christmas money spinner off the back of the first books success. That being said, I don’t really blame them, Adam Kay is an amazing comedian and story teller and thoroughly deserves to be at the top of the book charts.

I’ve not read Adam Kay’s first book so wasn’t entirely sure what to expect but within the first few pages I was hooked, I read the whole thing in one go! I wish it was a bit longer (Don’t think I’ve ever said that about a book!) as I was really in to it. I wasn’t a huge fan of the foot notes explaining the medical terms as I felt like it ruined the flow a bit, but other than that a solid YES from me. Very thought provoking and made me so grateful for everyone working over the Christmas period. I’m ashamed to say I’ve never really given much thought to the emergency services, or anyone that works over Christmas and other public holidays, so just a massive THANKYOU to everyone thats working, you’re f***ing fab!

I had already read and LOVED Adam’s first book “This is going to Hurt”, so I knew exactly what I was in for with this festive edition. It was an easy read-in-one-sitting book and I throughly enjoyed it. Adam writes with so much humour and description that he makes you laugh out loud and shed tears in equal measure with his stories. I personally would have loved for it to have been just a teeny bit longer as it was much shorter than I first anticipated, but that’s only because I think I could read thousands of pages of his diary entries and I just wanted more!

This was the perfect length read over Christmas, and even though I haven’t read his first book, I enjoyed how Kay was able to write so humorously about a difficult time of year that made you both laugh and respect the NHS even more for what they do, especially at Christmas. It’s quite a lot for the length, and I expect fans of the first book would want more, but it’s a nice taster and a good read to complete in one sitting!

Adam Kay is just absolutely brilliant isn’t he! Devoured this little number very quickly as his writing is just so easy to gobble up. I’ll definitely be reading his first book this year, I’ve been meaning to pick it up for a while. It was such a great book to pick up over Christmas as it really puts things in to perspective, we’re so lucky to have the NHS especially this time of year.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was short and easy to read in the busy festive period. I haven’t read his first book and now I definitely want to, kind of wish I had read it before though! The book is full of jokes, innuendos and more serious matters, and I really loved the dynamic of the book, an emotional rollercoaster. One thing I wasn’t massive on was the footnotes, mainly because I’d miss them then realise and have to go back (my fault really). The book really opens up your eyes to how much work the NHS, doctors and nurses etc. put in over Christmas, and all year long. I think it’s easy to forget the work that goes in if you aren’t directly linked to the NHS or someone working within it, so thank you to everyone who keeps it running all year round and giving your time to do so.

She should probably go to the police for the good of the menfolk of Nigeria, but she loves her sister and, as they say, family always comes first. Until that is, Ayoola starts dating the doctor where Korede works as a nurse. Korede’s long been in love with him, and isn’t prepared to see him wind up with a knife in his back: but to save one would mean sacrificing the other…
